Yuzvendra Chahal, born on July 23, 1990, is an Indian cricketer who represents the national team in white-ball formats as a leg spin bowler. In domestic cricket, he plays for Haryana and competes in the Indian Premier League for the Punjab Kings and Northamptonshire in the County Championship. Chahal is recognized as a right-arm leg-break bowler. Notably, he became the second player and the first Indian to achieve a six-wicket haul in T20 International history. Additionally, he made history as the first concussion substitute to be awarded the Man of the Match title in an international cricket game. Beyond cricket, Chahal is a former chess player representing India internationally. He was part of the Indian squad that triumphed in the 2024 T20 World Cup, although he did not participate in any matches during the tournament.
Chahal's IPL Career
Chahal has represented three franchises in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He began his career with the Mumbai Indians from 2011 to 2013, subsequently transferring to the Royal Challengers Bangalore, where he played from 2014 to 2021, notably participating in the 2016 final as part of the runner-up team. In advance of the 2022 season, he signed with the Rajasthan Royals, again finishing as a runner-up in the 2022 final. In 2024, he achieved the milestone of becoming the first bowler to claim 200 wickets in IPL history.
