Imam, Superintendent of Mecca Masjid gets one year extension

Hyderabad, November 28: The Telangana Government on Friday issued orders extending the services of Hafez Mohd Rizwan Qureshi, as Imam of historic Mecca Masjid, for a period of one year from August 20, 2014, to August 19, 2015. During the service, Hafez Rizwan Qureshi will get a consolidated pay of Rs 11,500 per month without any allowance. Similarly, Mecca Masjid's Superintendent K Nayeemuddin has been given one year extension up to October 19, 2015. He will get a consolidated honorarium of Rs 20,000 per month without any allowances

Six Centres including Gulbarga Feature in ‘Smart City’ Proposal

Six major centres in the state, including Kalaburagi (formerly Gulbarga) , have been proposed to be upgraded under the ‘Smart City’ plan. A proposal in this respect has been submitted to the Union government. This was announced by state minister of urban development Vinayakumar Sorake at a media meet in Vikasa Soudha on Wednesday. The other five are Mysuru, Belagavi, Hubballi-Dharwad, Mangaluru and Davanagere. He expressed confidence that early approval would be obtained. He also revealed that a separate commissionerate would be set up for the management of different civic corporations in the state.

Waqf Board successful in vacating illegally occupied land of Masjid Miyan Mashak

Hyderabad, November 30: 450-year-old Masjid Miyan Mashak is located at Purana Pul where a non-Muslim was selling photos of deities for the past two months, by setting up a temporary shop made of plastic and bamboos. Surprisingly the Masjid Committee was also silent on the matter. However locals reported Waqf Board about the development on which Special Officer Waqf Board Mr. Jalaluddin Akber sent a task force team to the spot. The man was told that he cannot sell the photos of deities by illegally occupying the Masjid land hence he was asked to vacate the land by himself. The man complied and vacated the land.

New Delhi: Indian tennis star Sania Mirza was on Tuesday appointed the United Nations Goodwill Ambassador for the South Asian region by UN Women at an event held to mark the International Day To End Violence Against Women. Sania, India's most successful women's tennis player and the first Indian to break into the World Tennis Association's top 50 rankings, is the first South Asian woman to be appointed the goodwill ambassador in the organisation's history. Hyderabad, November 25: A mad rush was witnessed in old city for Shaadi Mubarak scheme announced by Telangana government. It must be noted that KCR government has announced financial aid of Rs. 51 thousand for the marriage of Muslim girls. Long serpentine queues were witnessed outside State Bank of India branches at Chandulal Baradari, Bahadurpura and so on. The check list to be submitted along with the application form is income certificate, caste certificate, birth certificate, Aadhaar Cards of bride and groom (if available), scan copy of first page of bank pass book, invitation card. Application can also be submitted one month before the marriage. Parents’ income must be not more than Rs. 2 lakh annually. Applications can also be submitted on website through ‘Meseva’ or can be submitted directly to DMWO or DE (APMFC) of the respective district.

Saudi Arabia to issue five-year residency permits

The validity of residency permits of foreign workers in Saudi Arabia is likely to be extended to five years, a media report said Tuesday. The directorate general of passports is giving final touches to the plan to introduce the five-year validity, Gulf News reported, adding that currently the permits are valid for one year. The report, however, said that no time frame has been announced for the move. The move is expected to ease financial pressure on the 2.8-million strong expatriate Indian community in the kingdom.

With over 45 million flowers this season, Miracle Garden in Dubai is all set to open its door to the public today. “Nearly 700,000 people visited our garden during the first season (February 14 to May 18, 2013). In this new season, we are expecting the numbers to cross a million,” the company said. A floral UAE flag Miracle Garden will open in two phases. The first phase, opening today, will have huge structures of sunflowers, seven flower hearts, seven stars and huge stunning flowers made with 3D art design. The garden will have seven pyramids, including a huge one with the UAE flag designed by flowers. Mumbai, November 21: After a starry wedding at Hyderabad, newly-wed Arpita Khan and Ayush Sharma had a star-studded reception Friday evening in Mumbai. The event was graced by the who's who from the film industry. While the entire Khan family, including Salman Khan, Sohail Khan, Arbaaz Khan, Malaika Arora Khan and Salim Khan were present at this event, many celebrities who could not attend Arpita and Ayush's wedding in Hydrabad also came to bless the couple. Arpita donned a cream lehenga with light embroidery while Ayush wore a black suit for their reception and the entire family stepped out to pose for the media before the event. Jama Masjid Shahi Imam's son anointed Naib Imam

New Delhi, November 22: Shaban Bukhari, the son of Jama Masjid Shahi Imam Syed Ahmed Bukhari, was Saturday formally anointed the Naib Imam (deputy Imam) of the 17th century mosque at a ceremony here. "I announce Shaban Bukhari as the Naib Imam of Jama Masjid. I hope that he will live up to the expectations," Syed Ahmed Bukhari said during the ceremony. The 19-year-old Shaban Bukhari, who is pursuing his bachelor's degree in social work at Amity University, is now in line to become the Shahi Imam of the country's largest mosque.

Luxury heritage hotel Taj Falaknuma, located in old city, has been booked by Salman for two days and is all set to wear a special look for the gala ceremony for which invitees list includes some top Bollywood and Tollywood personalities. "The entire hotel has been booked for November 18 and 19 with a view to keep gatecrashers at bay," a source said. The Khan family is keen to have some of the Hyderabadi delicacies to be included in the menu, and preparations for the star-studded affair are already in full swing. "Brunches, lunches and dinners throughout the event will have all the dishes, including some oriental. But for the main dinner (on November 18), it is going to be Hyderabadi cuisine like Biryani and Pathar Ka Gosht," a source said.

Shah Rukh, Salman Khan hug again

T he patch-up between the two biggest Khans of Hindi cinema was not just an occasion for a historic photograph.  It was a real patch-up and one where Shah Rukh and Salman Khan didn’t only kiss Salman’s kid-sister Arpita on the eve of her wedding they also hugged and kissed one another. “This was not just a camera-created camaraderie, like what had happened at  Baba Siddiqui’s Iftaar party. I don't want a film to be made on me because I don't want to share my intimate details. Saudi Arabia to launch work-at-home programme for women

Saudi Arabia will launch an updated work-at-home programme for women in a few weeks, while its portal will be introduced by the end of December, media reported Thursday. The programme has been designed to support the work of Saudi women in a way suitable for their family conditions and conservative nature of Saudi society, Xinhua cited Fahad Al Tukhaifi, undersecretary in the labour ministry for special programmes, as telling the Al Sharq Al Awsat newspaper. The programme was launched four years earlier, but was not fully implemented as it did not tackle the legislative, organisational and technical requirements. The programme is expected to create new job opportunities for women as well as individuals with special needs by enabling them to work without going to their workplaces.
