Axiom Mission4: Historic Journey

The first Indian astronaut to journey to the International Space Station (ISS), and the second Indian in space after Rakesh Sharma in 1984.

Launched on June 25, 2025, from Kennedy Space Centre on the SpaceX Falcon 9 and Crew Dragon.

Crew members include Commander Peggy Whitson (USA), Mission Specialists Sławosz Uznański-Wiśniewski (Poland), and Tibor Kapu (Hungary).

A significant science mission includes around 60 experiments from 31 different countries.

His experiments with an Indian theme on the ISS consist of:

Growing fenugreek (methi) and moong daal in a microgravity environment.

Researching tardigrades, muscle degeneration, and the concept of "Screens in Space."

Conducting educational STEM demonstrations aimed at Indian students.

Significance

Marks India's comeback to human spaceflight after 41 years, building on Rakesh Sharma's groundbreaking mission in 1984.

It enhances global collaborations (ISRO–NASA–Axiom–SpaceX) and paves the way for Gaganyaan, India's manned mission scheduled for 2027.

In Summary

Shubhansanhu Shukla’s spaceflight is a landmark for Indian science—combining personal achievement, national pride, and cutting-edge research. He stands as a role model for India's next generation of STEM enthusiasts and astronauts.
