Early Career and Domestic Success

Ben Duckett, born on October 17, 1994, is an English cricketer who represents his country internationally. He is a left-handed batsman and can also serve as a wicket-keeper. Currently, he competes in domestic cricket for Nottinghamshire.

 



International Career

Duckett began his professional career with Northamptonshire in 2012. His 2015 season was remarkable, as he accumulated over 1000 runs in first-class cricket. The 2016 season proved to be especially fruitful, with Duckett achieving several centuries and earning the title of Young Cricketer of the Year from both the Cricket Writers' Club and the Professional Cricketers' Association (PCA). Additionally, he was awarded the PCA Player of the Year. In August 2018, he transferred to Nottinghamshire. In 2019, he achieved a swift double century while playing for Nottinghamshire. He played a pivotal role in Nottinghamshire's victory in the 2020 T20 Blast final. During the 2022 County Championship season, he surpassed 1000 runs, contributing to Nottinghamshire's success in Division Two. He has since extended his contract with Nottinghamshire.

 


Recent Performances and Achievements

Duckett made his international debut for England in October 2016, participating in both Test and ODI matches against Bangladesh that year. He was later chosen for the tour to India but was dropped following a disappointing series. Additionally, he faced a suspension due to an incident during the 2017-18 Ashes tour. He made his T20I debut for England in 2019.

 


Franchise Cricket

In February 2025, Ben Duckett achieved a milestone in the ICC Champions Trophy by scoring 165 runs off 143 balls against Australia, marking the highest individual score in the tournament's history until it was surpassed later. He also recorded the fifth-highest ODI score for England and the fourth-highest in Pakistan. Furthermore, he was included in England’s squad for the 2024 ICC Men's T20 World Cup. In May 2024, he scored 71 and 76 in the second Test against the West Indies.

Duckett participated in The Hundred, leading the Welsh Fire as captain during the 2021 season and earning a spot in the tournament's team of the tournament as recognised by ESPN CricInfo. In 2023, he transferred to Birmingham Phoenix.
