Shivaji statue of Rs. 1900 crore

Government of Maharashtra proposes to make elaborate security arrangement for the Chhatrapati Shivaji’s memorial in the Arabian Sea off Mumbai which will include a system which will keep it invisible on radars, bunkers and an independent security unit. It will be managed by National Security Guard (NSG).

These steps are being taken to avoid terrorist attacks like 26/11. It is expected that nearly 1000 people will visit every day. The memorial will start functioning in 2019.
It will have CCTV surveillance. The officials of the Public Works Department are executing this project. The details of the project have been sent to National Security Guards, the Mumbai police and the Coast Guard with a request to co-ordinate and set up an independent security guards unit for this memorial.
Government sanctioned Rs. 1,900 crore for the 190 feet statue. It will be promoted as a tourist spot.
PWD has been given environment clearance for this project. The tourists can board a boat to the statue from Gateway of India and Nariman Point.
