Owaisi’s MIM claims 1 lakh members in UP

 

 LUCKNOW: Preparing ground for a grand entry into Uttar Pradesh politics, the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) claimed on Wednesday it had enrolled more than 1 lakh members to the UP unit of the Hyderabad-based party.

Kickstarting their online membership drive on Wednesday, AIMIM's Charminar MLA Ahmed Pasha Quadri said the party was making inroads into UP at the behest of scores of Muslims and Dalits who were feeling cheated by the ruling Samajwadi Party. Lucknow convenor of AIMIM, Shaukat Ali said the party had already enlisted the support of people in 49 districts, with booth level committees already functional in nearly 15 districts of the state.
